Motherhood comes with a WHOLE host of changes in your life, a heap of new things to learn and a complete change in the relationship dynamics of those around you. It is no wonder that many Mums end up feeling lost and isolated and unsure where to turn.

The good news is that there are some great resources available to help you through this period of change. We recommend being gentle with yourself and realising that while there is a big transition into motherhood, it does eventually settle down and get easier!

Best General Resources

  • Pregnancy Birth & Baby Government Website: This website is a great overview of all of the support and resources out there and is definitely a great first step to getting support. Click here to find out more.

Best Resources for Breastfeeding Support

  • Australian Breastfeeding Association: With a free 24/7 helpline for you to call whenever you need support, through to the new online app, Mum2Mum this volunteer organisation should be at the top of your list! You can also pay to join their membership and go along to their local mothers groups, and hire hospital grade breast pumps. This is a great way to develop a supportive network of mums who have experienced all sorts of breastfeeding issues and can help you without judgement. Go to ABA website
  • Find a Lactation Consultant Near You - if you're having breastfeeding problems it is best to see a qualified Lactation Consultant who can assess you and your baby and work with you to develop a solution or a plan to help you achieve your breastfeeding goals. Earlier is better, especially for attachment issues! Click here to Find a Lactation Consultant
